"I wanted to deep-dive into the JOSEPH archives, the craftsmanship and the disruption that Joseph Ettedgui brought to fashion in the 1980s and ’90s, it’s all about the ease and sensory experience of wearing these clothes.” – Mario Arena, Creative Director, JOSEPH
Taking inspiration from the opulent interiors of late ‘70s private clubs, and JOSEPH’s signature streamlined elegance and craftsmanship, the collection combines a celebratory mood with sophisticated silhouettes.
Intricate, artisanal detailing and surface texture stand out. From croc-embossed shearling to an innovative fluid double satin, sumptuous fabrics appeal to the senses with their heightened tactility. Multi-size, hand-sewn matte sequins add lustre and movement, whilst a gold lamé pleated skirt brings festive shimmer.
A rich palette spans shades of wax, gilt, cherry, violet and black, referencing the abstract ‘colour field’ paintings of mid-century American artists.
Continuing the enveloping, luxurious feel, new cocoon-shaped outerwear crafted from wool and Donegal tweed appears alongside timeless knitwear in lavishly cosy yarns, like hand-made mohair cable, cashmere fisherman rib and brushed alpaca.
The Bean, a new, studio-designed organic shape, symbolising the evolution of JOSEPH, shines in light-reflecting gold.
